Japan’s DC Advisory Strengthens Senior Administration.
To strengthen its senior leadership team in the country, the international finance organisation DC Advisory has named Abhijit Chiripal as managing director of its India operations. Chiripal, who previously served as the head of investment banking at Spark Capital, will also serve as the city of Mumbai’s head of financial services and sponsor coverage. His career in investment banking spans more than 19 years.
Daiwa Securities, the leading brokerage house in Japan, owns DC Advisory, formerly known as Signal Hill. It has become one of the key players in the mid-market categories with a focus on technology, digital, and IT services.
The sale of education platform Great Learning to Byju’s, Kedaara Capital’s acquisition of the majority stake in Great Software Laboratory Pvt Ltd (GS Lab), Gupshup’s acquisition of Knowlarity, Pine Labs’ purchase of Mosambee, and Picker’s sale to rival Shiprocket are just a few of the deals the agency recently closed.
In addition to the M&A deals it specialises in, DC Advisory recommended 20 transactions for businesses that raised money over the past two years, totalling around $2 billion in value.
Chiripal, specialising in affordable housing finance, MSME lending, auto financing, and microfinance, is expected to strengthen the agency’s financial services defence.
“Globally, DC Advisory is now a team of 650 bankers, and we have closed 165 transactions in the past year…,” adverted Klaas Oskam, caput of DC Advisory India. “We added ten new MDs in the last year internationally. In India we have grown to 32 executives and expect to strengthen by another 50% from here in upcoming two years….”
“In the rapidly evolving financial services and fintech space, with high volumes of sponsor activity, there are more opportunities than ever to make a difference for our clients, both domestically and internationally,” said Chiripal.
