Manchester United made a deal to sign Ajax’s Martinez: BBC.
On July 16, Manchester United signed Lisandro Martinez, a CDM from Ajax Amsterdam, for £45 million.
The report added that Martinez had travelled to Manchester to undergo a medical test before relocating.
Rumours are he won’t be going to Australia for the ongoing tour and will associate with his new teammates when they arrive back in England on July 24.
The last few days have been busy for United’s recruiting department staff.
The 24-year-old boy, who can play as a midfielder, would be the third signing of the manager, Erik ten Hags, following the arrival of Denmark’s midfielder, Christian Eriksen, and the Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia.
They confirmed on Friday that Christian Eriksen signed a three-year contract while Manchester United is still pursuing Frenkie de Jong.
Dutch international De Jong is in the squad despite reports that he may be absent from the US tour of Bara.
United’s first summer signing was a Dutch full-back named Tyrell Malacia.
Martinez was a key player for Ajax last season, appearing in 36 matches in all competitions and helping the team win the lead title and finish second in the Dutch cup. The versatile 24 years old young Dutch player will render some much-needed quality in various areas of the pitch that Ten Hag is looking to fortify in United.
The player moved to the Netherlands from Argentina in May. Ten Hag managed him for three seasons. There were 118 appearances for the Dutch club by Martinez.
Martinez was capped seven times by Argentina. With his presence, the United defence would bolster, which conceded 57 goals last term – the most among the top six.
