Rohit Sharma To Leave For England On 20th June
Recently BCCI shared some of the pictures of team India living for the England tour where Virat Kohli and other players boarded the flight but Rohit Sharma was unseen. Ben Stokes and Co. fans were surprised to see the absence of the Indian Skipper. Team India is heading towards England to play a rescheduled fifth and final Test.
According to recent news, it is found that Sharma will leave on 20th June along with other white ball specialists and Test players. Along with Rohit, Rishab and Shreay Iyer are also in India due to their involvement in the five-match T20I series against South Africa. Moreover, they will be free from their commitments on 19th June, when the final match will take place in Bengaluru.
Due to his absence fans were concerned about his health and injury issues. He has not played any match since IPL 2022, where Mumbai Indians (MI) finished at the bottom and Hitman had a forgettable run both as batter and captain. Happily, the 35-year-old does not have any injury concerns and he will head to England early week, with Dravid and Co.
India’s tour of England combines a one-off Test, in Edgbaston, on July 01 along with six white-ball matches from July 7-17. India will play Leicestershire in a practice match before the tour opens. Also, the Hardik Pandya-led Indian T20I team will be matched with Ireland, in Dublin.
The series was postponed due to the concern of Covid-19 last year. From July 1 India and England will meet on the first of July. On Thursday, the majority of India’s Test regulars left from Mumbai Airport including, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Prasidh Krishna, and Cheteshwar Pujara, Mohammed Siraj, opener Shubman Gill, along with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
